1.   Description:

Benzoic acid is colorless, odorless crystalline flake. Melting point 122.13 °C, boiling point 249 °C, relative density 1.2659 (15/4 °C).

It sublimate rapidly in 100°C, the steam is strong excitant, easy cause cough by inhalation.

It soluble in water slightly ,soluble in ethanol , ethyl ether and other organic solvents easily.

 Benzoic acid is weak, but stronger than fatty acid. Their chemical properties are similar, both can form salt, esters, acyl halide, acid amides, acylation etc., and can not be oxidized easily.

For industry application, it can be used as mordant in printing and dyeing industry,it's also used in producing plasticizer and spices etc.,it can be antirust for steel equipments,also wide used in oil field.
